Being a grown-up means a lot of things. It means paying your own way, making hard decisions and doing the “right” thing…it also means watching football. Don’t get it? Allow me to explain.
Working in an office, or with other human beings who are no longer in college, means that you have to know certain things. As a journalist, if you’re lucky enough to be one of us, you should know every current event you can get your hands on. Reading Twitter isn’t enough for us; you should be reading papers cover to cover (in whatever way you read them) every day.
For those of you who aren’t in the news biz, you should still be informed.
I mean, what else are you going to talk about during the awkward moments…err coffee breaks in the office?
I’m pretty easy going when it comes to sports. I’m not one of those girls who is all ready to strap on a cup and play with the boys, but I’m also not one of those girls who won’t watch because it’s sports. I watch, I make comments and I sometimes root for the wrong team…hey, it happens — there’s a lot of boys running around on the field and all their jerseys look similar!!
I love walking into work and being able to say “How about them [insert sport team/game here],” makes me feel like I’m a grown-up member of society, one who pays bills and such.
What do you do to feel “grown-up?”

There are no comments, yet.
Why don’t you be the first? Come on, you know you want to!
